  • Tone & Delivery: Calm and Neutral tones help reduce defensiveness. It's les about what you say and more about how you say it. Choose a non-confrontational setting to ensure other person is open to hearing you.
  • Command vs Request: A command might feel harsh or demanding, whereas a request allows for collaboration.
  • Avoid Final Statements:"Always" and "Never" tend to escalate situations. 
  • De-escalation Techniques: If boundaries are crossed, taking a break, practicing deep breathing, or removing yourself from the situation can prevent further conflict. 
  • Setting Consequences: If you don't respect your own boundaries, others won't either.
